Bitcoin on a company balance sheet
What this product tracks
EmerickTech Bitcoin Treasury tracks native Bitcoin as the treasury asset under review and uses cash, cash equivalents, approved short-term reserves, near-term obligations, and monthly operating outflow as contextual totals. Those context lines are not a complete balance sheet and should not be treated as one.
What the BTC value means in this product
The Control Pack and paid workspace calculate BTC value from the Bitcoin quantity and the BTC/USD price shown in the tool. The price field can load a current reference price from mempool.space through this site's /api/btc-price route, and the user can replace that value with a manual scenario price. Your accountant may require a specific valuation source, cutoff time, market, or other methodology for financial reporting.
Management reporting is not the accounting record
Allocation, fiat runway, net liquid position, stress cases, and policy exceptions are management and treasury-control metrics. They do not determine the journal entry, financial-statement classification, tax basis, disclosure treatment, or audit evidence required for the company.
Questions to take to the accountant
- Does the company's Bitcoin fall within the scope of ASC 350-60?
- Which financial-statement presentation and disclosures apply?
- Which price source and cutoff should be used at period end?
- How should custody location, restrictions, and any encumbrances be documented?
- Which internal-control evidence should accompany the accounting workpaper?
